The truth about Sathya

Intense lover of problem-solving.

The bigger the problem, the better the excitement.

Invests time in smallholder agriculture, politics and education.

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for – and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool – for love – for your dreams – for the adventure of being alive.

I am a true free spirit animal who believes that we can change the World with the power of ideas. Creativity, originality, empathy, courage and freedom make my DNA.

When it comes to new ideas, I am not interested in brooding. I want to go out and experience things, in this mysterious puzzle called life. There are no failures, unless we fail to learn from those mistakes. Every step, in its own beautiful way, contributes to the texture of life.

With infectious enthusiasm, I share my ideas in a two way communication. This helps me make more friends and get good feedback about the ideas.

I am a dreamer. I dream about the ways to make the world a better place.

I am a believer. I believe that there is always a way to make the dreams come true.

I live with intensity. I intensely invest my time, resources and networks to solve large problems. How can we make democracy work better for Indians? How can poor smallholder farmers have a reliable and dependable incomes in the light of climate change? How can we make learning meaningful and fun for children? How can we humans live life based on science, reason and rationality to improve kindness and humanity?

After all the abstract stuff, let me make it more concrete. I am the cofounder and President of Kheyti and Cosmos Green, organisations focused on making farming work better for the smallholder farmers. I was the cofounder of Indigolearn, an EdTech company revolutionising the way students learn finance and accounting. I am currently co-authoring a book with Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan on India 2047 – the India that we want to see as we celebrate 100 years of Independence and the ways to get there. I am a passionate mountain biker, an avid traveller and a voracious reader.

I studied Chartered Accountancy (a CPA equivalent in India) and am currently studying Public Policy in a Post Graduate Program from Takshashila Institution.

Besides writing a lot of crap in my journals, I do write stuff for major Media Outlets like Huff post, Stanford Social innovation review, HinduBusinessLine, SciDevnet and Yourstory on issues involving farmers, climate change and economy.

I was lucky to have been a part of 3 remarkable fellowships which added tremendous value to my life – Acumen India Fellowship, Aspen NewVoices fellowship and Mulago’s Rainer Arnhold Fellowship.

I raise two incredible kids, Virat and Ira, with my wife Ashwini. She, our kids and the family add a lot of beauty to my life.
